About

I am a doctoral candidate in the German Studies Program at Michigan State University. I am interested in integrating computational techniques into the field of cultural studies to explore the ways in which the sociological phenomenon of football influences national and regional identities in Germany in the digital age. My dissertation examines the production and transformation of the idea of the multiethnic society in mass-media discourses and on social media between the 2006 and 2018 World Cups. As a graduate student, I also enjoy teaching a lot! My teaching philosophy revolves around helping students to enhance their abilities to solve problems independently and eventually become lifelong learners.

From October 2021 to October 2022, I was a visiting PhD student at Leipzig University and worked closely with the Computational Humanities Group. You can read more about my experience from this blog!

On this website, I present not only my previous digital projects but also the current status of my dissertation. It also serves the function of summarizing my teaching materials as well as the curricula I designed. Updated CV can be downloaded on the “CV” page. If you are curious about what I do when I am not working, feel free to click the “Personal” page.
